Welcome! Throughout the fertility portion of my blog, I’ll be sharing my journey over the last year with you retrospectively. I considered writing a blog many times before but I didn’t actually start writing until October 2021. At some point in these posts, we’ll catch up to real-time and I’ll be sure to let you know when that happens!
I wanted to write this blog for a few reasons. First, not everyone knows someone who has gone through IVF at a young age or after cancer. I was lucky enough to have one friend who I could learn from and it helped tremendously. I also listened to podcasts and watched some docuseries/youtube videos of other couples going through IVF. I found over the past year that I learned more from the patient’s perspective than from the clinician’s perspective, although I value both.
I was also able to help a friend during her journey, since she started a few cycles after I did. It seemed to help her tremendously and it was incredibly gratifying for me to be able to share what I’ve learned thus far and help support her. No two experiences are the same but if sharing my story can shed some light for others, I’m happy to be able to do that! And my story isn’t over yet…so you’re along for the ride now!
